S

everal Transjakarta stations and buses do not have CCTVs, information screens, and proper facilities for people with disabilities, the country’s ombudsman says.

Chief ombudsman Alamsyah Saragih said during a hearing at his office on Tuesday that his agency had carried out inspections of the bus rapid transit facilities along corridors 1, 2, 4, 8 and the Ragunan-Monas express corridor in April.

It found that many Transjakarta stations and buses were not equipped with CCTVs, while some information screens were not functioning, he said. In some corridors, the floors heading to the stations were too steep and slippery, making them almost inaccessible for people with disabilities, he added.

“If the administration wants more motorists to leave their vehicles at home and use public transportation, the condition of Transjakarta stations and buses should be improved,” Alamsyah said.

Transjakarta Director Budi Kaliwono said the company was committed to improving its facilities, including by installing more CCTVs and installing toilets at a third of bus stations. (ary)
