he Bandung Institute of Technology’s alumni association (IA-ITB) has formed a team to study problems in Jakarta Bay with a scientific approach.
The team’s chairman, Bernardus R. Djonoputro, said on Thursday that the team would work within three months starting from August to give a recommendation to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the end of October.
“We will provide input to the government on dealing with Jakarta Bay, including reclamation,” he said.
The government earlier postponed the reclamation project for factors including legal and environmental problems.
Bernardus said that the recommendation was expected to reduce and anticipate any problems relating to legal certainty, business, the right to a livelihood and the environment.
The team involves seven experts in spatial planing, the environment, transportation, geology, satellite imagery, law and maritime affairs.
