conomic diplomacy remains a priority of Indonesia that is to be used to promote its economic packages to the diplomatic community and business players, a minister has said.

"The 13 economic policy packages aim to boost investment. Economic development in Indonesia has been clear and promising over the past two years," Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi said in her opening remarks at an event attended by business players and diplomats at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

Indonesia's economic potential has been steadily growing in the past two years, she said referring to recent data.

Average annual growth of 5 percent followed by growing openness and competitiveness, including in the maritime and connectivity sectors, could bolster economic cooperation with other countries, Retno said.

The ministry's economic diplomacy task force has facilitated 277 business partnerships with 8,888 business players, with total transactions reaching US$ 21.5 million between January and July.

"Indonesia is committed to being more open and competitive in its economy through developing its infrastructure and connectivity, as well as investment," Retno said.

Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) chairman Thomas Lembong, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara and noted businessman Sofjan Wanandi all spoke during the seminar, during which participants raised concerns about issues related to tax, predictability of regulations and work permits that they said presented challenges in doing business in Indonesia.
