T

he panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court said CCTV footage at the Olivier restaurant in the Grand Indonesia mall was legal evidence that could be considered as a clue to determine the verdict against murder defendant Jessica Kumala Wongso.

"Electronic evidence has been commonly used in court practice, so it can be used as an extension of Article 184 of the Criminal Law Procedures Code (KUHAP). Therefore, it can be used as a clue to see whether there is criminal conduct," judge Partahi Tulus Hutapea said during the reading of the verdict at the Court on Thursday.

Judges dismissed a rejection from Jessica's lawyers regarding the footage. Previously, an expert witness from Jessica's camp, Rismon Sianipar, said the record had been tampered with to make Jessica seem guilty.

Partahi said the digital experts summoned to the court, Muhammad Nuh and Christopher Hariman Rianto, had been sworn in. If some day the manipulation allegations could be proven, the lawyers and defendant could pursue further legal proceedings.

He added that the footage was in accordance with the testimony given in court.
