cting Jakarta governor Sumarsono has decided to halt the bidding process for 14 projects that have previously been approved by inactive Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama to be included in the city’s 2017 budget (APBD), citing administrative reasons.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Sumarsono said the bidding process for the projects, worth Rp 4.43 trillion (US$339.3 million) in total, must be delayed as it was being carried out before the deliberation of the 2017 budget priorities (KUA-PPAS) with the City Council.
“We put [the projects] on hold to respond to the City Council’s request. Based on the regulation, the bidding can be conducted after the administration and the City Council have shared [initial] agreement in the form of the KUA-PPAS,” he said.
Jakarta Goods and Services Procurement Agency head Blessmiyanda said the projects in question include, among others, the construction of low-cost apartments, hospitals and school renovations.
Ahok, who has left his post until February to run in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, has previously given his approval to accelerate the calls for tender for selected projects, using Presidential Regulation No. 4/2015 as a legal basis. According to the regulation, under certain conditions, some tenders can be carried out before the KUA-PPAS deliberation has taken place. (hwa)
