he Jakarta City Council has approved a Rp 304 billion (US$23 million) budget allocation for the expansion of city-owned Tarakan Hospital, located in Central Jakarta.
"The City Council's budgetary body has approved [the budget proposal]. We are just waiting for the legal documents [to be completed]," Jakarta Development Planning Board chairwoman Tuty Kusumawati said on Wednesday.
The expansion of the hospital, which is also known as Sky Hospital, is one of 14 project packages worth Rp 4.4 trillion in the draft 2017 city budget.
Deliberation of the 2017 budget is ongoing.
Among the 14 projects is the revitalization of school buildings and the construction of child-friendly public parks (RPTRA) and low-cost apartments.
Bidding for the 14 projects will be held while Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama is on leave to campaign for February’s gubernatorial election.
Acting governor Sumarsono previously insisted that bidding for the 14 projects be halted pending endorsement of the 217 city budget by the City Council. (jun)
