he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is delving into the possibility that the son of a recently named corruption suspect, Sri Hartini, the regent of Klaten in Central Java, may be implicated in a bribery case in connection with the job promotion process in numerous working offices in the regency.
KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said Wednesday that investigators of the agency had confiscated more than Rp 3 billion (US$224,400) during a string of raids on numerous places in Klaten, including the official residence of Sri Hartini, a dismissed Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician.
The raids took place after a sting on Dec. 31, which saw the arrest of Sri Hartini.
Febri said Rp 200 million was found in a room in Sri Hartini's official residence allegedly used as a bedroom by her son Andi Purnomo, a Klaten councillor from the PDI-P.
Some Rp 3 billion was also found in a cupboard, Febri said.
