swimming pool at Senen Sports Hall (GOR) has run dry after firefighters used it as a source of water to douse the flames at the Senen market, which have engulfed two buildings since Thursday at 4 a.m.
As of Friday noon, the fire was still burning, having razed almost 1,700 kiosks at the historical market in Central Jakarta. Thick smoke still billowed from the site and firefighters were still looking for the hotspots.
The pool had run out of water and had been closed until further notice, Firman, an attendant at GOR Senen, said as quoted by kompas.com.

Central Jakarta Firefighter and Disaster Management Agency head Hardiswan said the firefighters were now relying on the rivers Lio and Kwitang to get water to extinguish the fire. “We have stopped taking water from GOR Senen,” he said.
The city administration has deployed 70 fire trucks to the location. (evi)
