n order to give city officials the opportunity to exercise their political rights, One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) centers, which take care of issuing 518 types of permits, will be closed on voting day for the gubernatorial election slated Feb. 15.
The head of the PTSP and Capital Investment Body, Edi Junaedi Harahap, said on Friday that most of his personnel were Jakarta residents.
“Therefore, we will close our services during election day, so we have the opportunity to vote,” he said.
Edi said the operation of PTSP centers at all levels--subdistrict, district, municipality and provincial--would resume the next day.
He said his staff could take the day off as their services were not urgent like other sectors such as health or disaster mitigation.
Public services that are not allowed to close during election day are hospitals, transportation, community health centers (puskesmas) and fire and disaster mitigation departments. (cor)
