The bridge that connected Bojonggede and Kemang would be demolished due to the massive amount of trash that was often stuck underneath hampering the flow of water and worsening flooding in the area, an official has said.
Agus Apuy, an official with Bogor's Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, overseeing roads and bridges, said that his office had allocated Rp 1.7 billion (US$142,109) for the demolition. Afterward, the administration would build a new, higher bridge so there was more space for the water and trash.
"We are entering the tender phase now. We only need approval to demolish the bridge," he said on Tuesday, as quoted by tribunnewsbogor.com
He added that his office would communicate with other parties affected by the plan, including state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, which had cables underneath the bridge. (fac/evi)
