P

rior to the second round of Jakarta's gubernatorial election, the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) is set to open posts at subdistrict offices and provide digital platforms to ease voter registration.

KPU Jakarta chairman Sumarno said on Monday that the commission’s officials were currently listing eligible voters for the city's runoff election.

"We will open registration posts at all subdistrict offices. Voting officers will be in charge of the posts," he said, adding that the posts would open within the week.

To ensure all residents were eligible to vote, officials encouraged people who were not registered in the previous round to proactively register themselves.

The posts, Sumarno added, would also be open at apartments.

The authorities will also provide a hotline via the WhatsApp application, through which residents can register or confirm their voting eligibility.

"Soon we will release the WhatsApp number, as well as opening the posts," Sumarno said as quoted by kompas.com. (agn)
