he management of Depok Town Square (Detos) shopping center in Depok, West Java, said that the collapse of a part of the mall’s ceiling on Thursday afternoon was due to a pipe above the ceiling coming loose.
“There are workers fixing the ceiling,” Detos marketing communication staff Annisa Lassa said on Friday.
Part of the mall’s ceiling crashed down on shop roofs on the underground floor, specifically shops located at the back of the mall near the parking area.
“The collapse was due to a pipe bracket coming loose above the ceiling,” said Detos marketing communication manager Ferry Nurdin Firdaus as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
The collapse caused some degree of damage to tenants’ assets such as signposts and merchandise. Mall management is still calculating the cost of the damage and losses due to the accident.
No fatalities or injuries were reported in the accident. (wnd)
