Immigration office spokesperson Agustianur said on Monday that the office would check on the KITAS processing for former Chelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder Michael Essien and former English Premier League striker Carlton Cole.
"We will check whether they have received recommendations to get their KITAS," Agustianur added as quoted by Antara news agency.
The Indonesian Professional Sports Body (BOPI) plans to file a report on PT Liga Indonesia Baru and Persib Bandung regarding the alleged immigration violations. BOPI claims the players have not received their KITAS.
Agustianur further said as the party responsible for issuing KITAS for foreigners, immigration would coordinate with the concerned parties.
"We will question the management of Persib first. We hope those players have received legal permits considering the value of the players’ contracts," he said. (rdi)
