everal people from Sumenep, Madura, East Java, were reportedly arrested after attempting to check the situation at a polling station in Kebon Singkong, Klender, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.

“15 people are currently being detained in Kebon Singkong, Klender. Their IDs state that they are Madura residents," Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said on Wednesday.

According to some members of the group, 20 of them arrived in Jakarta on Sunday from Sumenep using a tourist bus. They were accommodated in Kampung Sumur, Klender, East Jakarta.

During their stay, they were each given Rp 100,000 (US$7.50) and a white uniform by an unknown person they described as a field coordinator. The same coordinator also instructed them to oversee and monitor vote counting at the polling station. (dea)
