N

ational Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto claims that the police have the identities of the two people who allegedly attacked Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan with acid.

"We know their identities," Setyo said in Central Jakarta on Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.

Setyo denied accusations that the police were not serious about solving the case. Some have made this accusation after the police failed for two weeks to uncover the motive for the attack or the perpetrators, leading some to suspect disinterest on the part of the police.

He assured those concerned that the police would continue with the investigation and would pursue the two suspected perpetrators vigorously.

"The investigation is still ongoing. I will check with the investigators because some cases are not able to be resolved quickly," Setyo said.

Novel Baswedan was attacked on April 11 by two unidentified people on a motorcycle near his home in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta.

The police have since examined dozens of witnesses and CCTV recordings. (dis/wit)
