ity-owned bus operator PT Transjakarta has sold 2,703 staple food packages since it started selling basic commodities such as beef, rice, cooking oil and sugar at 50 Transjakarta bus stops last Friday.
The 2,703 packages consist of 403 sacks of rice, 852 bottles of oil, 527 sacks of flour and 921 packages of sugar.
“Judging from the sales figures, the public response has been positive,” PT Transjakarta spokesman Wibowo said as quoted by beritajakarta.id on Friday.
Since Friday, Transjakarta passengers have been able to buy various staple foods at 50 bus stops scattered throughout the city.
A 5-kilogram sack of rice is priced at Rp 45,000 (US$3.38), while cooking oil is sold at Rp 11,000 per liter.
Meanwhile, flour and sugar sell for Rp 8,500 and Rp 12,500 per kg respectively.
“We will ensure the sales continue throughout the Ramadhan fasting month,” Wibowo said.
