hild-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRA) in the capital will soon have more than 20,000 books donated by a non-profit international organization, The Asia Foundation.
"The Asia Foundation actually has donated more than 20,000 books, which we have selected. Insyaallah [God willing] they will be useful for our children," said acting Jakarta governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat as quoted by beritajakarta.id on Friday.
He further said the books would be distributed to all RPTRA in the capital.
"Books are windows to the world. RPTRA need to function as a healthy reading place," Djarot said.
The books were symbolically given to the Jakarta administration by foundation director Sandra Hamid to Djarot on Friday at City Hall in Central Jakarta.
The foundation is California-based organization that engages in movements to improve countries in Asia, including Indonesia. (agn)
