View all search resultsuthorities at Nusantara Port in Parepare, South Sulawesi, have prepared 12 vessels and set up a holiday travel post to serve homebound revelers from various areas across Kalimantan ahead of Idul Fitri celebrations.
“This is the third day of the operation of our Idul Fitri holiday travel post. This post opens for 24 hours, starting from June 10 — or 15 days before Idul Fitri — until July 11, or 15 days after the Muslim festive day,” said Parepare Port authority head Wembly Wetik as quoted by kompas.com on Monday evening.
He said personnel from several institutions were readied at the post to help travelers so they could feel safe and comfortable during their trip. They included Parepare Port authority officials, Indonesian Navy and Nusantara Port Police personnel, state port authority Pelindo officers, medical teams from the Health Port Authority and baggage handlers.
Parepare Transportation Agency head Yodi Yahya said the 12 vessels prepared comprised two vessels operated by state-owned shipping operator Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) and 10 vessels belonging to private companies.
“The vessels will serve routes to Balikpapan, Bontang and Samarinda in East Kalimantan; Batu Licin in South Kalimantan; Nunukan in North Kalimantan; and Makassar in South Sulawesi,” said Yodi. (ebf)
