cting Jakarta governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat will officially replace non-active governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama on Thursday.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will inaugurate Djarot as Jakarta governor at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday, and the latter will continue in the post until October, kompas.com has reported.

Responding to the news, deputy governor-elect Sandiaga Uno expressed his respect on Wednesday as he congratulated the acting governor.

"I congratulate [Djarot]. This is his highest achievement as a regional head. [He used to be] a mayor and a deputy governor and now [he will be] governor," said Sandiaga.

He further said that he was ready to fully support Djarot until October in his work for Jakarta.

"For the five months ahead, we will be all out in supporting Pak Djarot [so that] Jakarta will be better in the future," said Sandiaga

In October, Jakarta will be led by governor-elect Anies Baswedan. (agn)
