aily sales of fuel in East Java, a major Idul Fitri homecoming destination, increased 24 percent from daily sales on regular days, state-owned energy company Pertamina has reported.
The increase occurred mainly a week before and a week after Idul Fitri.
“Daily sales were usually 12,032 kiloliters, but during Idul Fitri, sales increased to 14,942 kiloliters per day," Pertamina communication and relations manager Heppy Wulansari said on Sunday as quoted by tempo.co.
Pertamax 92 sales contributed to the largest increase by about 42 percent, followed by Pertamax Turbo and Pertalite, while Premium purchases increased only by 6 percent during the holiday.
Meanwhile, diesel fuel -- Solar, Pertamina Dex and Dexlite -- sales decreased by 34 percent as a result of a prohibition of trucks on the roads during the Idul Fitri exodus to prevent worsening traffic congestion.
Pertamina expressed appreciation for several stakeholders, including regional governments and the National Police, that were involved in helping with fuel distribution during the holiday. (rdi/bbn)
