Jakarta MRT fare could reach Rp 17,000 before subsidy

The tariff for Jakarta's first Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) may be set at Rp 17,000 (US$1.27), an official from PT MRT Jakarta said on Wednesday.

he tariff for Jakarta's first Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) may be set at Rp 17,000 (US$1.27), an official from PT MRT Jakarta said on Wednesday

However, PT MRT Jakarta finance and administration director Tuhiyat added that the expected tariff had yet to include a subsidy that would be allocated by the Jakarta administration.

"It depends on how much the subsidy will be. For instance, if for the farthest trip passengers are required to pay Rp 10,000, that means the administration must add Rp 7,000," Tuhiyat said, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

Tuhiyat said that the Jakarta administration would have the final say on the final price for passengers.

The current estimation, he added, was based on the total construction costs and a profit margin of 10 percent

PT MRT Jakarta said the project was on track, reaching 74.9 percent completion by the end of June to meet the operational target of March 2019. (agn/ika)
