s part of celebrations for Indonesia’s 72nd anniversary, the Jakarta administration held a parade for child-friendly parks on Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan in front of City Hall in Central Jakarta on Saturday.
As many as 186 child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRA) were represented in the parade, which was opened by Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat. Hundreds of RPTRA caretakers held performances during the parade as reported by kompas.com.
Dressed in either traditional garb or attire related to Independence Day, the participants sang traditional and national songs accompanied by music from marching bands. Each RPTRA group at the parade stopped in front of a tent where Djarot stood to perform in front of him and government officials.
Accompanied by his wife Happy Farida, the governor appeared to be as enthusiastic as the participants.
He was joined by City Secretary Saefullah, Central Jakarta Mayor Mangara Pardede, West Jakarta Mayor Anas Effendi, East Jakarta Mayor Bambang Musyawardana and other city officials. (dra)
