View all search resultsakarta has collected roughly Rp 6 billion (US$500,000) in fines from vehicles parked illegally around the city this year, an official has said.
Jakarta Transportation Agency head Andri Yansyah said the figure constituted fines collected from Jan. 3 until Sept. 15.
“The money comes from 14,613 vehicles,” he said at City Hall as quoted by kompas.com on Monday.
The agency charges owners Rp 500,000 per day for their violations, according to a regulation that has been in place since 2015, Andri said, referring to bylaw No. 3/2012 on regional retribution.
Officials from the agency tow vehicles parked illegally or tow the cars of unruly drivers who violate traffic orders. Owners get their cars back after paying a fine. (fac)
