he South Jakarta Police raided three storage units allegedly used to store liquor in Menteng Pulo Market, Setiabudi, on Tuesday.

South Jakarta Police criminal investigation department head Adj. Sr. Comr. Bismo Teguh Prakoso said the police were patrolling the market when they discovered the units.

"Three units in Menteng Pulo Market were used to store illegal liquor," Bismo said as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.

According to reports, the owner of the storage units, identified as Agus, and his employees initially refused to open the units for the police until the officers barged in, finding dozens of liquor boxes.

The police found 250 bottles of liquor branded Intisari and Rajawali at the scene and arrested the owner.

"We arrested Agus for further questioning," Bismo said.

On Monday, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise and the police foiled the alleged attempt to illegally distribute 53,927 bottles of alcohol from Singapore at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta and Sri Bayintan Kijang Port in Tanjung Pinang. (dis)
