The frequency of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s sky train has been doubled. It now makes 12 trips in two hours.
"There is an additional operation from six trips in two hours now to 12 trips,” said Yado Yarismano, spokesman of Soekarno-Hatta airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, as quoted by tempo.co on Wednesday.
Currently, he said, the train operates only for two hours at three separate times: 7:00 a.m. to 09:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
"Although the train only operates three times a day, trips can now be completed twice as fast since the operation kicked off on Sept. 17,” he said.
Meanwhile, Angkasa Pura II’s electronical and mechanical engineering vice president M. Putra Pariadi said the sky train’s operational hours would be increased gradually.
"In the future, it will operate for 24 hours,” he said.
Aside from that, he added, the speed would also be raised from 30 kilometers per hour to 60 kilometers per hour. Later on the train would eventually be operated unmanned. (agn)
