The inauguration of Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno as Jakarta governor and deputy governor, respectively, on Monday afternoon will be guarded by the Jakarta Police and Indonesian Military (TNI), an official has said.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said security personnel would be deployed to secure the State Palace and City Hall.
"After the inauguration at the State Palace, the event continues at City Hall and the Jakarta Regional Council’s [DPRD] office. There will also be a pesta rakyat [people's party] held at City Hall in the evening. We will secure all those events," he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Heru Budi Hartono, a close aid of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, said that Monday’s ceremony would closely follow that of a presidential inauguration.
"[But] outside the palace, the procedure might be different," Heru said on Tuesday. (rdi/wit)
