A

dog was left in a car in Grand Indonesia's parking garage for more than eight hours on Friday evening.

A mall visitor, Tommy Prabowo, said he pulled his car into a parking space on the 8th floor of the parking garage at 4:30 p.m. when he saw a Maltese in the car parked next to his.

"I was surprised by loud barking and I thought there was something wrong, but then I assumed the owner had left the dog only for a short time,” he said as quoted by kompas.com on Saturday.

However, he said the dog stayed in the car until 10 p.m. Tommy also asked security guards to make an announcement for the owner, because he was concerned that the dog was thirsty, starving and overheating in the car, which had the window only slightly opened.

Tommy said the dog was restless and exhausted. He accompanied it until after midnight and tried to give it water through the opening in the window.

The dog owner finally came after midnight and said she had been watching a movie in the theater. She then argued with Tommy, saying she had left the dog in the car before.

"I accompanied the dog for eight hours […], but the owner said, 'I did not ask you to accompany my dog; I did not ask you to count eight hours,'" Tommy added. (dis)
