The Jakarta Tourism Agency will extend the operational hours of nightclubs until 3 a.m. on New Year’s Eve.
The agency's entertainment and recreation division head, Ujang Supandi, said on Wednesday that the operational hours of nightclubs would be from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m on New Year's Eve.
During regular days, he said nightclubs were only allowed to operate until 2 a.m., as stipulated in a bylaw.
Meanwhile, the agency's tourist industry head, Toni Bako, said his side would issue circulars on the prevention of drug trafficking to all nightclub owners.
The city administration's integrated team will monitor nightclubs when the city rings in the New Year.
"Along with Jakarta Public Order Agency [Satpol PP] officers and the National and Political Unity Office [Kesbangpol], we will monitor nightclubs," Toni added. (rdi)
