orth Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency deployed a unit to help remove a small ring that had gotten stuck on an 11-year-old girl’s finger in Marunda on Friday.
The team of six people began trying to remove the ring from the girl’s middle finger at 12.10 p.m., said agency staff member Putut Jantoko.
“Her name is Meredith. We came to help her after a resident reported to the Fire and Rescue Agency in Marunda that the girl had a very small ring on her finger that needed to be removed,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.
During the process, Putut said, they tried several methods including lubricating the finger with water and using a string to pull off the ring.
The team finally freed the ring from Meredith’s finger by carefully cutting the ring with pliers after 20 minutes of struggle.
“We have handled it. The girl is safe now,” said Putut. (roi)
