T

hree of 14 factories established along a riverbank in Bekasi, West Java, do not have permits to dispose of liquid waste, an official has said.

Bekasi Environmental Agency pollution department head Agung Adiputra said four other factories, which already had the permits, had failed to evaluate their waste treatment and report it to the local administration for the last two years.

Meanwhile, two of the factories without permits have submitted proposals to the administration, which is currently in the process of the verifying them.

“However, the other factory has yet to submit a permit application to the administration,” Agung said on Tuesday, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

The 14 factories are engaged in various industries including food and beverage, garment and metal production and laundry.

The two factories that have submitted permit proposals are still without proper waste water treatment plants (IPAL). Therefore, the city administration had ordered these factories to address this in order to obtain the disposal of liquid waste permit, Agung added. (wnd)
