span>Forbes has named Indonesian hip-hop artist Brian “Rich Brian” Imanuel one of the 30 Asian entertainers on the magazine’s annual 30 Under 30 Asia list.
The list compiles 300 Asians under the age of 30 in 10 different categories. Forbes included Brian in the entertainment category.
Kompas.com reported that the 18-year-old Brian shared the same prestige on the list as South Korean boy band BTS and Indian artist Anushka Sharma.
Brian became a global sensation following the release of his song called “Dat $tick” on YouTube in 2016. With his then-nickname “Rich Chigga”, his unique rap and swagger managed to captivate hip-hop audiences in the United States.
Brian released his first album, Amen, in February, which became an instant hit on iTunes in the hip-hop category. Prior to the album’s release, he adopted a new nickname because he considered the first one insensitive.
