blackout that lasted more than an hour and a half disrupted the second day of a computer-based national exam (UNBK) at Al Falah junior high school (SMP) in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.
The blackout started at around 8 a.m., 20 to 30 minutes after the exam began, a source who wished to remain anonymous told tempo.co on Tuesday.
The students panicked about not being able to complete their tests.
“It was odd because the only buildings that experienced the power outage were the school and several houses behind the school. All other buildings in the area were fine,” the source added.
SMP Al Falah has only 26 computers for its 78 students completing the 2018 national exam. It therefore decided to split the students into three groups, with the earliest test starting at 7.30 a.m.
“We have 28 computers in total, two of which are backups. Some of the computers were borrowed from the students’ parents,” the source said.
