“I think it is safe already at JIExpo,” Anies said on Wednesday as reported by kompas.com.
The fire broke out at the Niaga Building, the media reported on Tuesday, quoting officials.
PT JIExpo marketing director Ralph Scheunemann clarified on Wednesday that the area at the convention center that was hit by the fire was a construction site next to the Niaga Building.
“[The convention center building] is not the venue of the Jakarta Fair,” he said.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Anies said he had advised PT JIExpo, the complex’s caretaker, to be more careful to prevent possible fires from breaking out at buildings in the complex. (ami)
