The Indonesia Energy & Engineering (IEE) Series returns this year with Engineering Week on Sept. 11-14, 2024.
As the largest industry gathering in Southeast Asia, IEE Series 2024: Engineering Week takes place in a vast space stretching more than 85,000 square meters, both indoors and outdoors, at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
The four-day event will cover seven key industry sectors in Indonesia: mining, oil and gas, construction, concrete casting, metal casting and metallurgy, as well as disaster management and civil protection. These seven sectors will be showcased in the following exhibitions:
“We invite all stakeholders to participate in this sustainability agenda, which we present under the theme 'Advancing Industrial Sustainability'. There are high hopes that this event will benefit Indonesia's economy and serve as a foundation for building a resilient and sustainable industrial future through collaboration and innovation from all parties,” said Lia Indriasari, Country Manager of Pamerindo Indonesia, organizer of the IEE Series 2024.
Engineering Week involves representatives from over 40 countries, as well as more than 2,100 national and international participants from the engineering sector. It also brings together 62 stakeholders, practitioners, academics and industry players, along with nine industry associations.
Over its four days, Engineering Week will feature three hybrid stages and 15 seminar sessions, including four sessions hosted by government ministries.
Pamerindo Indonesia has collaborated with various state institutions and industry associations to present current topics and relevant issues. Notable partners include the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), which is cohosting ADEXCO, and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), which lent its support for the Indonesia exhibition at the Construction Indonesia-Concrete Show SEA to advance infrastructure and construction development.
Other key participating associations include ASPERMIGAS (Association of Oil and Gas Companies), ASPINDO (Indonesian Mining Services Association) and GAPENSI (Indonesian National Contractors Association), as well as supporting associations of GIFA-METEC Indonesia, such as GAMMA (Association of Metal and Machinery Industry), APLINDO (Indonesian Foundry Association) and APNI (Indonesian Nickel Miners Association).
Together with the BNPB and in collaboration with SIAP SIAGA (the Australia-Indonesia Partnership Program for Disaster Risk Management) and the ASEAN Secretariat, Pamerindo Indonesia is also presenting the Global Forum for Sustainable Resilience (GFSR) during the IEE Series 2024: Engineering Week.
The IEE Series demonstrates its commitment to holistically advancing industrial sustainability in line with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and this year’s series marks a leap forward as it continues to evolve with the latest theme, "Advancing Industrial Sustainability", which was introduced during Energy Week on Aug. 28-31.
The IEE Series 2024: Energy Week was attended by 12,408 trade representatives and involved 650 participating companies from 30 countries, showcasing international collaboration to support sustainable energy targets. Support for education and youth empowerment was also spotlighted at Energy Week through 10 higher education institutions involved in the Student Visit program and five youth-led start-ups that were awarded at the Innovator Network (SHARE-PIE), the closing session of Energy Week.
During the SHARE-PIE session, Ir. A. Susetyo Edi Prabowo, head of the Center for Human Resources Development in Electricity, New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (PPSDM KEBTKE), emphasized the importance of implementing a vision for sustainability in the energy sector, as seen throughout the IEE Series.
“One of the most important aspects towards achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision is bridging the gap between industry players to introduce the necessary industrial technology and work processes to the academic world. The hope is that with the involvement of academics, practitioners and youth, each person in Indonesia will be able to take a direct role in various areas, such as becoming agents of change in their respective regions. Therefore, the synergy between exhibitions like this and various supporting sectors of the industrial ecosystem, such as education, is crucial,” Susetyo explained.
Embracing this vision, Pamerindo Indonesia strives to provide various education programs on sustainability through collaborations with multiple partners.
In partnership with INVI and KALISTA, a member of Indika Energy Group, the IEE Series 2024 organizer offers electric vehicle charging infrastructure and free electric shuttle buses between JIExpo and departure points at Senayan City and Pondok Indah Mall. Pamerindo is also continuing its recycling program to turn plastic waste into new items through its partnership with Rappo, a sustainability program partner of this year’s IEE Series.
“Pamerindo Indonesia is also proud to announce that last year, we achieved 16 out of 17 SDGs, and we are committed to performing even better this year,” said country manager Lia.
“Engineering Week involves more than 2,800 companies from 44 countries to collectively realize the ['Advancing Industrial Sustainability'] theme. Many initiatives are being implemented to showcase sustainability aspects in this year's exhibition activities, from waste management programs, carbon emission reduction programs and inclusivity programs to sharing knowledge or educating visitors on sustainability topics,” she continued.
“For example, the stage backdrop on this occasion is made from 100 percent recycled cardboard, as proof of Pamerindo's commitment to implementing sustainable aspects in every activity undertaken.”
