Singer Kartika Jahja has embarked on a new venture combining the things she loves the most -- food, art and the environment.
She has opened a new restaurant and creative space at Jl. Benda Raya No. 89 in Kemang.
“We aim to nourish the body, the mind and soul with the food and drinks we serve, and the empowering, aspiring activities we do,” Kartika said of the hospitality vision she shares with co-owners film director Sinung Winahyoko and environmental activist Fadhilla Ristanti.
Rumah Makan and Ruang Karya SELATAN, which opened on July 7 after a meticulous joint effort of designing, renovating and public progam planning, serves comfort food defying the usual geographic categories from a menu that includes vegan and vegetarian dishes, while offering space for activities ranging from dancing and acting classes to support group meetings and progressive discussions.
Tika told The Jakarta Post that the name SELATAN described the values upon which it were based: Sutainable, Empowering, Loving, Authentic, Tranquil, Aspiring and Neutral.
