Actress Wulan Guritno is supporting the conservation of the Sumatran elephant through her project Gelang Harapan (Bracelet of Hope).

The initiative was inspired by Wulan’s trip to Tesso Nilo National Park in Riau back in August and to make the initiative happen, in collaboration with World Wide Fund for Nature Indonesia, she held a fundraising event titled Hope for Life.

For Wulan, it is important the elephants be protected to maintain a balance in the ecosystem and to reduce the conflict between humans and elephants.

“So that elephants are not killed, reduce the conflict so they can reproduce, so our ecosystem will be better,” Wulan told kompas.com on the purpose of her initiative.

During the event Wulan also collaborated with several artists such as Nasirun, Julian Latif, Pierre Guillaume and Cinanti Astria Johansyah, to donate the profits they made from selling their art pieces.

Several celebrities also attended the event, including Ario Bayu, Aming and Gisella Anastasia.
