o support the development of e-sports in Indonesia, Indofood’s instant noodle cup brand Pop Mie has announced its sponsorship of two Indonesian e-sports teams.
The brand, which is owned by processed food giant PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur, will sponsor EVOS Esports and Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ).
“Our goal is to boost the development of e-sports in Indonesia,” Pop Mie senior brand manager Vemri Junaidi told the press on Tuesday, adding that the teams were chosen based on their accomplishments.
Vemri refused to reveal the value of the sponsorship, but said that Pop Mie was committed to partnering with the teams for the long term. He added that the teams were free to use the funds in the best way they saw fit to develop the sport.
RRQ chief executive officer Andrian Pauline said his team would use the sponsorship money to expand the team’s engagement with its fans outside Jakarta. He said interaction between players and fans was still concentrated in the capital and its satellite cities.
