ndonesian Ambassador to Singapore I Gede Ngurah Swajaya has launched digital kiosks (KIPIN ATM) at Sekolah Indonesia Limited (SIS Ltd), an Indonesian school in Singapore to provide additional classroom materials for students and teachers.
He called on the school to regularly update the contents of the smart kiosk.
Sekolah Indonesia Limited caters to Indonesian students and operates under the supervision of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.
“The improvement of a digital school is expected to enhance the quality of Indonesian education so that it could compete with the education system in other countries,” he said in a press statement made available to The Jakarta Post over the weekend.
The KIPIN ATM provides thousands of school textbooks published by the Education and Culture Ministry, videos based on the 2013 Curriculum, worksheets and literary comics.
It is equipped with Wi-Fi, allowing students to download the materials free of charge through a smartphone.
SIS Ltd principal Sumardiyanto said the digital kiosk was a response to the growing reality that the internet could no longer be separated from students.
“Therefore, KIPIN ATM in our schools are expected to enhance the learning spirit of students and teachers as the machine could easily provide school materials for free,” he added. (bbn)
