The Health Ministry announced 1,611 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 72,347.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the ministry’s disease control and prevention director general, Achmad Yurianto, added that 52 more people had died of the disease, bringing the death toll to 3,469.

The total number of recovered patients has also increased to 33,529.

The capital city recorded 260 new confirmed cases, bringing the total tally to 13,739. Meanwhile, East Java reported 246 new cases, North Sulawesi 134, South Sulawesi 132, North Sumatra 112,  and West Java 105.  

The virus has spread to all of the country's 34 provinces. (dfr/mfp)
