The Health Ministry announced 2,657 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 70,736.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the ministry’s disease control and prevention director general, Achmad Yurianto, added that 58 more people had died of the disease, bringing the death toll to 3,417.

The total number of recovered patients has also increased to 32,651.

The capital city recorded 284 new confirmed cases, bringing the total tally to 13,488. Meanwhile, West Java reported 962 new cases, East Java 517, South Sulawesi 130, North Sulawesi 126,  and Central Java 120.  

The virus has spread to all of the country's 34 provinces. (dfr/mfp)
