View all search resultsPublic trust in President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto’s handling of the COVID-19 outbreak has fallen in July as the country witnesses a rising number of confirmed cases, a survey from pollster Indikator Politik revealed on Tuesday.
The guidelines scrap the local terms “people under observation” (ODP) and “patients under surveillance” (PDP) in favor of “suspected” and “probable” cases, and also expands the definition of COVID-19 deaths "for surveillance purposes" to include the deaths of probable cases.
The lingering question is why Jokowi only let the public learn of his anger after 10 days. The public, as well as experts, have criticized the way his ministers, especially Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto, have handled the biggest public health crisis of our time from the very beginning.
Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said on Monday that prior to delivering the speech on June 18, in which he threatened to replace ministers who failed to deliver results in the COVID-19 fight and disband government agencies, President Jokowi had issued frequent warnings to Cabinet members whom he considered were not doing enough in dealing with the pandemic and its economic impacts.
The regulation states that people participating in activities in public places should consider the number of attendees and the presence of people from vulnerable groups, such as toddlers, senior citizens, pregnant women and people with disabilities.
