second four-star hotel, the eL Royale Hotel & Resort Banyuwangi, opened in Banyuwangi on Wednesday with a ceremony joined by Tourism Minister Arief Yahya and Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita.

During his time there, Arief explained about the three As of tourism -- attraction, access and accommodations -- and how the hotel opening fits into the category of accommodation development.
The availability of the biggest ballroom in Banyuwangi at the eL Royale Hotel & Resort Banyuwangi that has a capacity for 1,300 people is also expected to boost meetings, incentive, conference and exhibition (MICE) tourism in the region.

As for accessibility, the completion of Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi may elevate the regency to become a world-class tourist destination.
During a press conference, Arief also mentioned that Banyuwangi would invest more in the tourism sector, “Banyuwangi has been successful as a festival city. It could host 72 events in a year and they’ve been consistent every year,” he said.
Among the top three events in Banyuwangi are the Tour de Ijen, the Banyuwangi Ethno Carnival (BEC) and Gandrung Sewu.
Banyuwangi is currently working on several development projects, such as Marina Boom and Grand Watu Dodol. (kes)
