Kapuas Hulu in West Borneo is set to hold a cycling event Borneo Heart 2017 on Oct. 27-29.
“This is the third Borneo Heart event, which is part of Sentarum Betung Kerihun Lake Festival 2017. The route will cover the crossborder area of Indonesia – Malaysia,” said West Borneo Tourism Association secretary Roni Wang.
Upon arriving at the Pangsuma Putussibau Airport in Kapuas Hulu regency on Oct. 27, participants will be taken by bus to the Indonesia – Malaysia border in Badau where they will be staying during the event.
The event’s main activity falls on Oct. 28 with a ceremonial event that will start at 6:30 a.m.
The starting point of the race will be at Badau Border Post (PLBN), which from there participants will head to Kedungkang Hill to witness the beauty of Lake Sentarum then go to Betang Panjang Kedungkang House.

At Panjang House, participants will be welcomed with the cultural tradition of the people of Dayak Iban. The group will then head to the camp site by noon where thy will stay overnight. The day will end with a barbecue dinner.
On the third day, participants will travel to Lake Sentarum and go to Lanjak.
“Lake Sentarum has forests and is home of plenty of animals including hornbill bird, an endangered species, and sun bear,” told Roni.
The event will end by afternoon time and participants will go straight to the Pangsuma Putussibau Airport.
Other than Borneo Heart 2017, Sentarum Betung Kerihun Lake Festival 2017 also has other events that will be held throughout 2017, such as productive enterprise expo, food and handicraft exhibition, Gawai Nasrani, Gawai Dayak, Tembawang Festival, Regency Sports Week, Bakti Pemuda Camp, the Authentic Heart of Borneo Music Festival, Sentaraum Lake Trip by Bandung Ship, a media trip, decorated boat parade at Sentarum Lake, Touring with the HoB Bikers Community, workshops, seminars and symposiums.
