Ancol has prepared a range of fun-filled activities and events to entertain vacationers during the Idul Fitri break.
ncol Taman Impian (Ancol Dreamland Park) is known to offer up a range of fun-filled activities during the Idul Fitri holiday. This year, the park aims to attract 1.2 million visitors by stepping up its program of events and increasing security to provide an exciting yet comfortable vacation experience.
Here is a glimpse of what you can enjoy at Ancol this Idul Fitri and during the school break.
Lagoon Beach
A series of events under the Ancol Nusantara Festival will be held at Pantai Lagoon (Lagoon Beach) from June 15 to July 15. The schedule includes a culinary festival with traditional cuisines offered by 30 food stalls, art performances from provinces across Indonesia and Lagoon Sunset Music performances featuring different musicians every week at its floating stage, including local band Wali on June 24, rock band NTRL on July 8 and Kunto Aji on July 29.
In conjunction with Jakarta’s 491st anniversary on June 22, visitors can enjoy the Explore Ondel-Ondel parade featuring giant Betawi effigies, as well as a tribute to the multi-talented Betawi entertainer Benyamin Sueb on June 23. A celebration of Betawi culture, meanwhile, will include lenong (comedy play), pencak silat (traditional martial arts) and palang pintu (door-bolting tradition).
Ancol’s Art Market (Pasar Seni) will be transformed into a traditional Betawi village from June 15 to Aug. 31. It is set to feature a Wall of Fame exhibition displaying the historical icons of Betawi culture throughout the centuries, a Betawi culinary festival, gambang kromong (music ensemble) and lenong.
Dufan
Jakartans’ favorite amusement park Dunia Fantasy (Dufan) will stage the Dragon Ball Z international show from June 15 to July 31 at the park’s Time Adventures stage area. The 45-minute show, which is based on the hugely popular Japanese anime TV series, will feature actors from Japan. Visitors can watch their performance then take photos with the characters, such as Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Buu and Bulma, after the show.
Dragon Ball Z starts at 1 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Dufan entrance, with prices starting from Rp 325,000 (US$23). Purchases made from June 15 to 24 will come with a free Dufan annual pass. Dufan’s operational hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
SeaWorld
The underwater exhibition is set to hold a series of events themed Harmony of the Sea, during which it will introduce its newest characters, Sharky the shark and Ray the manta ray, to visitors from June 15 to 24. On June 15, divers of the main aquarium will be wearing baju koko (traditional Muslim shirt) as they greet the visitors.
Meanwhile, Sea Turtle Day commemorations will be held from June 16 to 17 and include Sea Turtle Divers who will “play” football underwater to celebrate the World Cup. Catch their performance from June 18 to 21.
And don’t forget to look out for SeaWorld’s enderwater ondel-ondel as they will make an appearance from June 22 to 24.
SeaWorld entrance tickets start from Rp 120,000. On June 15, the venue is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on June 16-24 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Ocean Dream Samudra
After successfully entertaining 60,000 Dufan visitors for 60 days in March, Indonesian illusionist Denny Darko will return to Ancol’s Ocean Dream Samudra with the Magical Celebration event. Performing twice daily from June 16 to July 15, Denny guarantees a bigger show this time around.
To watch Denny’s performance, an entrance ticket is compulsory, with prices starting from Rp 170,000. Visitors who buy their tickets from June 15 to 24 will receive a free annual pass. Ocean Dream Samudra is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Atlantis Water Adventures
Visitors of Atlantis Water Adventures can try the waterpark’s latest attractions, Skybox and Dragon Race, which were introduced in February.
In Skybox, prepare to “fall” from a height of 14.12 meters at 56 kilometers per hour, or in 5.2 seconds, according to kompas.com.
The Dragon Race, meanwhile, is a water slide that is 14.12 m high and 116.65 m in length.
Operational hours for Atlantis Water Adventures are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with entrance tickets costing Rp 175,000.
From June 15 to 24, Ancol’s entrance gates will operate 24 hours a day. Tickets start from Rp 25,000 per person, Rp 25,000 per car and Rp 15,000 for motorcycles. (asw)
