ncol Dreamland Park management will transform the Ancol Art Market into Kampung Betawi for the upcoming Ancol Kampung Betawi Festival from June 15 to Aug. 31.

“We will transform the Ancol Art Market into a Kampung Betawi. We will transform the atmosphere, decoration and content of the area into a Betawi cultural theme,” Jaya Ancol deputy president director Teuku Sahir Syahali said on Thursday as reported by kompas.com.

He said visitors would be invited to learn all about aspects of Betawi culture, such as its history, art and traditional food and beverages.

“Visitors to the 2018 Ancol Kampung Betawi Festival will also see a Betawi wall of fame that showcases the timeline of Betawi culture and history, from the colonial era to the present day,” he said.

Syahali went on to say that Ancol would enlist artists, cultural experts and Betawi small and micro businesses that participated in the OK OCE entrepreneurship program to enliven the event.

He said visitors would be able to enjoy Betawi-style food and beverages such as dodol betawi (traditional sticky candy), kerak telor (a type of omelet), and bir pletok (a beverage of herbs and spices).

Visitors would also enjoy Betawi art performances such as lenong (traditional theater), marawis (percussion band), and gambang kromong (traditional orchestra) every weekend during the event, he added. (ami)
