ustralian flag carrier Qantas Airways has announced that its annual FlyPink campaign this year will collaborate with the Movember Foundation, running from Oct. 15 to Nov. 15, with the aim of raising AU$100,000 (US$71,078) for breast and prostate cancer research.

Throughout the campaign period, Qantas employees will wear pink ribbons, which is iconic to the breast cancer awareness campaign, as well as a mustache for the Movember Foundation, a multinational charity that focuses on raising awareness and money for men's health.

Taking place between October and November, this year's FlyPink campaign coincides with breast cancer awareness month, as well as prostate cancer awareness month celebrated by Movember.

"This year's FlyPink collaboration reminds us all about the great things we can achieve when we work together. Therefore, we are very grateful for the opportunity to raise the health issues of men and women in this same initiative," Movember Foundation country director Rachel Carr said in a statement.

Qantas will also serve food boxes with nuances of FlyPink to increase awareness and support. The airline will also make a donation by matching the money donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and the Movember Foundation.

"Cancer can touch anyone's life, so it is a great honor when FlyPink can unite various differences for good," QantasLink captain Susan McHaffie said.

McHaffie started the FlyPink initiative after one of her relatives was diagnosed with breast cancer and survived. At the time, she aimed to raise AU$20,000. Since then, she has raised AU$500,000 for the NBCF and other affiliated charities.

McHaffie continues to commit to running FlyPink in her spare time by designing various FlyPink attributes and selling them to flight crews from around the world. Through the movement, McHaffie has successfully invited pilots in 30 countries that work for 135 different operators to participate in the campaign.

"We are very grateful for Qantas's support through the FlyPink initiative, which has now entered its fourth year. Together, and with the support of FlyPink, we can continue to finance the latest research to reduce the number of deaths from breast cancer," NBCF chief executive officer Sarah Hosking said.
