mid the ongoing unrest in some areas of Central Jakarta, tourists who are currently visiting the capital are advised to avoid mass concentration points.
“The Indonesia general election result announced on May 21 was followed by a mass protest in some areas in Central Jakarta causing road closures and some disruption to public transportation. Regarding this situation, the Tourism Ministry would like to advise all tourists going to or currently in Jakarta to avoid mass concentration points around Medan Merdeka, MH Thamrin, Sudirman and Tanah Abang streets,” read an announcement released by the ministry on Wednesday.

Tourists are also advised to keep themselves updated regarding the latest information through official channels.
“Please keep your information updated only from government official channels, such as @PolhukamRI and @TMCPoldaMetro,” read the statement.
