The pair spoke about "issues of mutual interest" to Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, according to a statement from the Malaysian prime minister's office.
efense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss a number of issues on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA).
In a statement released by Anwar's office, the pair’s discussion included strengthening defense cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia.
"The two spent about an hour discussing issues of mutual interest, including bilateral and regional relations," the statement said.
Anwar was joined by Defence Minister Mohamad Hasan and Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir.
"Alhamdullilah [Praise be to God], last night I could meet with the Most Honorable Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Langkawi, Malaysia," Prabowo said in a statement issued by the defense ministry.
In January, Anwar traveled to Indonesia for his first foreign visit after cementing his mandate in December 2022, when he won a confidence vote following an inconclusive election.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo welcomed his Malaysian counterpart for bilateral talks at Bogor Palace in Bogor, West Java.
