ith Prabowo Subianto’s victory now sealed, attention has turned to the formation of his new government, with rival political parties beginning to discuss their future positions toward the incoming administration.

After the Constitutional Court confirmed Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo as the next president, political parties aligned with unsuccessful candidates Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo are now faced with questions over where they will stand regarding Prabowo's incoming government. Some of them have already hinted at the possibility of supporting the next administration.

NasDem chairman Surya Paloh, the main sponsor of Anies’ bid, held a press conference on Monday evening just hours after the court ruled on the election dispute to say his party accepted the ruling and that it sought to prioritize "national unity" now that the presidential election is over.

"Are there any other suggestions other than to realign with [the incoming] government? What other suggestions would be better for NasDem?" Surya replied to a media question on whether his party would support Prabowo's government.

Citing the fact that the court ruling was binding and final, Surya suggested that calls by Ganjar and Anies for political parties in their camps to launch a legislative inquiry into the alleged election fraud were no longer relevant.

The National Awakening Party (PKB), the country’s most popular Muslim-based party, has begun internal discussion over its future direction after the defeat of its chairman Muhaimin Iskandar in the presidential election. Muhaimin ran for vice president alongside Anies.

After holding a meeting with party ranks on Monday, Muhaimin claimed that the PKB would remain committed to the spirit of “change”, the slogan of his and Anies’ campaign, despite differing views among party members on which path the party should take going forward.
