Tangerang plans to fix roads

TANGERANG: Only five percent of Tangerang's roads -- stretching 1,500 kilometers in total -- are damaged, the major said Tuesday.

Tangerang Mayor Wahidin Halim said his office would repair all damaged roads in the municipality in 2008.

"We have built and repaired 1,340 kilometers of road, which includes main roads and smaller streets," Wahidin was quoted as saying by Tempointeraktif.com.

He criticized the standard of a paved road constructed by CV Taruna Mandiri in Karang Sari subdistrict, Neglasari district.

"I have inspected the paved road. It is not good. Related agencies must pay attention to that," Wahidin said. -- JP
